Oneonta, N.Y.--Ithaca closed the first Empire 8 Crossover with a loss, falling 25-14, 25-23, 25-21 to Stevens Institute of Technology (12-6, 4-0 Empire 8) Sunday afternoon. With half of the 2009 conference schedule completed, the Bombers (12-8, 3-1 Empire 8) stands in a tie for third-place in the Empire 8. The top four teams will qualify for the conference tournament, to be held in November.

The Bombers had a season-high nine blocks in the game. Sophomore Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.) led the way with four.

The team retursn to the court Friday at the Fredonia Invitational.
