Rochester, N.Y.--The Bombers continued play in the RIT Invitational Saturday, sweeping St. John Fisher (5-7) 25-19, 25-23, 25-23 to improve to 2-1 in the tournament. Ithaca (9-5) will close weekend play against Clarkson.
Senior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) was Ithaca's leader in kills with 11. She has recorded 26 in the Bombers' three matches at RIT. Sophomore Karin Edsall (Cornwall Central/Cornwall) ranked second with seven kills, with classmates Kate Thoene (Voorhess/High Bridge, N.J.) and Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) each chipping in six.
Senior setter Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) led all players with 31 assists and also contributed a pair of aces. Juniors Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif) and Taylor Horton (Lakeridge/.Lake Oswego, Ore.) recorded 17 and 12 digs, respectively. Horton's total matched her season-high.
Ithaca takes on Clarkson at 4 p.m. They also met up with the Golden Knights at the 2008 RIT Invitational, winning in four sets.
