Troy, N.Y. The Ithaca men's soccer team (2-2-2) lost 2-0 at Rensselaer (5-0-1) Saturday in a non-conference game. It is the first time this season that Ithaca has allowed more than one goal.
Junior midfielder Jeff Geyer (Rham/Hebron, Conn.) had the Bombers' best chance to score in the 41st minute after he collected the ball at midfield and sent a hard shot through and forced a diving save from the Rensselaer goalkeeper.
Freshman back Ryan Norland (East Brunswick/East Brunswick, N.J.) nearly got Ithaca on the board in the 77th minute after he beat three Rensselaer defenders but his shot was deflected before it made it to the net.
Junior goalkeeper Justin Parlapiano (Stafford/Stafford Springs, Conn.) made five saves.
The Bombers return to action Tuesday at Cortland at 7 p.m.
