ITHACA, N.Y. – The Bombers (5-7, 2-4) lost to Rochester Institute of Technology (11-3, 6-0) in an Empire 8 Conference matchup by a score of 12-7 on Saturday. The game marked Ithaca's first loss ever to the Tigers at Carp Wood Field.
Sophomore Katie Hurley (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) scored four goals to lead the Bomber offense. She now has a team-leading 42 goals and 48 points.
Ithaca got two second half goals from junior Kylie McClure (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio) who now has 34 on the season.
Senior Becky Bedard (East Longmeadow/East Longmeadow, Mass.) also tallied two points. She assisted on freshman Nicole Borisenok's (Albany Academy for Girls/Watervliet) 25th goal of the year and on McClure's second of the game. Bedard leads the conference with 27 assists.
Junior Kassie Garfield (The Wheeler School/Cuttyhunk Island, Mass.) caused a career-high six turnovers and scooped up four ground balls. Sophomores Emily Finn (Bishop-Brady/Concord, N.H.) and Melanie Braun (Webster-Thomas/Webster) each picked up three ground balls.
In goal, junior Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) made eight saves and recovered a career-best eight ground balls.
Ithaca is back in action tomorrow as it visits Alfred for an Empire 8 contest at 1 p.m.
