Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to Union

Antoine Connors won the 100-yard freestyle event.
Schenectady, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's swimming & diving team (12-5) lost 126-117 in a dual meet at Union (4-3) on Saturday.

Sophomore Joe Gage (Edwin Oscar Smith/Storrs, Conn.) and freshman Antoine Connors (Spartanburg/Spartanburg, S.C.) both had strong performances for the Bombers. Gage won the 200-yard freestyle event (1:45.73) and Connors placed first in the 100-yard freestyle event (48.75).

The two teamed with sophomores Jerry Diamond (Junction City/Junction City, Ore.) and Steve Croucher (Dallastown Area/York, Penn.) to win the 400-yard freestyle relay event that concluded the day.

Freshman Derek Rand (Amity/Orange, Conn.) won both diving events for the Bombers. He won the 3-meter event with a score of 233.25 and the 1-meter with a score of 229.42. Senior Andrew Longcore (Red Hook/Red Hook) placed third in both events.

Freshman Jeff Rapp (Liverpool/Liverpool) contributed second place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard backstroke events for the Bombers.

Ithaca will begin competing in the UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Championships in Syracuse on Feb. 25.
