Women's Basketball Knocks Off Brockport

Jordan Confessore had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds

Brockport, N.Y.--Ithaca (5-3) defeated Brockport (1-5) 57-49 Tuesday night. Three Bombers reached double figures, with senior Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) leading the team with 17. Juniors Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) and Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall Park, N.J.) added 14 and 11, respectively.

Brockport held the lead with under 15 minutes to play in the game before a 17-8 Ithaca run put the Bombers up by 10 at 52-42. The Golden Eagles cut the lead to six with a pair of free throws with 2:27 to play, but could get no closer. Brockport was forced to foul three times with under one minutes to play, and free throws from Bixby and fellow senior Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) sealed the win for Ithaca.

In the first half, Brockport jumped out to a 7-2 lead and held the lead until Ithaca sophomore Riley Dunn (Central Catholic/Bradford, Mass.) put Ithaca on top 11-10 with a three-point basket.

The Golden Eagles tied the score at 24-24 with 1:29 to play in the half with a three-pointer. Bixby put the Ithaca up again with a three of her own. A late Brockport jumper brought the score to 27-26 entering halftime.

Defensively, Ithaca held Brockport to 36.2% shooting in the game. The Bombers recorded 16 steals, led by five from Klie and four from Brown. Klie also had three blocks in the win.

The Bombers return to action Friday with a 6 p.m. matchup with St. Lawrence at Ben Light Gymnasium.
