ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women's basketball team (4-3, 1-0 Empire 8) opened its conference season with a 75-52 win over Hartwick (2-4, 0-1 Empire 8) at Ben Light Gymnasium in Ithaca. The Bombers built a 16-point lead at halftime and led by double-digits through the entire second half.
Three Bombers scored in double-figures, led by senior guard Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) with 15 points. Junior forward Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) had 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting, and senior guard Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) had 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Bixby also had a team-high six assists.
Sophomore guard Riley Dunn (Central Catholic/Bradford, Mass.) scored nine points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.
The Bombers held Hartwick to just 32.2 percent field-goal shooting and forced 23 turnovers from the Hawks. Ithaca now leads the all-time series against Hartwick 41-16 and has won six straight in the series.
Ithaca returns to action Tuesday at Brockport.
