ITHACA, N.Y.--The Bombers (5-4) fell to the visiting St. Lawrence Saints (5-1) Friday night by a score of 59-58. Junior Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall Park, N.J.) led all scorers with a career-high 21 points.
Senior guard Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) connected on a three-point field goal with nine seconds left to pull the Bombers within one point of the lead at 59-58. Ithaca then used a full-court press to intercept the ensuing inbound pass at halfcourt but turned the ball back over to the Saints without getting a shot off.
Confessore netted 12 of the team's final 17 points to lead a 12-4 Ithaca run in the game's final minutes. She made 9-of-12 field goal attempts and added three assists to go along with three steals.
The Saints led by as many as 15 points in the first half but senior guard Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) helped the Bombers slowly climb back as she scored the final six points in a 6-0 Ithaca run to close the first half. Bixby finished with 14 points for the contest, her fourth straight game in double-digits.
The Bombers return to Ben Light Gymnasium for a non-conference game against Potsdam on Saturday at 5 p.m.
