Milestones Abound In Big Women's Basketball Win At William Smith

Geneva, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (1-1) exploded for 102 points -- the program's second-highest single-game total ever -- in beating host William Smith 102-81 Wednesday.

Junior forward Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) scored a career-best 20 points and tied a school record for field-goal percentage, making 10 of her 11 shots. Klie's 90.9 percentage matched the Bomber mark set by Shari Wilkins against Hartwick in 2000.

Klie, who added eight rebounds, was one of two 20-point scorers. Senior guard Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a game-high 21 points to raise her career total to 950. She's four points away from becoming the program's 10th all-time leading scorer.

Senior guard Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) scored 14 points and led Ithaca with career-high totals of nine rebounds and six assists. Sophomore guard Riley Dunn (Central Catholic/Bradford, MAss.) netted a career-best 15 points off the bench.

The Bombers recorded their biggest win ever over the Herons and led by as many as 32 points in the second half. A Klie lay-up with 10:29 left in the first half gave Ithaca an 11-point lead. William Smith never cut the lead to single digits over the final 29 minutes.

Ithaca's 52.7 field-goal percentage (39-74) marked the team's 10th-best single-game effort. The Bombers converted 16 of 17 free-throw attempts, good for a 94.1 percent accuracy rate that's third all-time.

The Bombers compete in Kean's Cougar Classic, facing #35 Cortland Saturday at 3 p.m. Their Sunday opponent will either be Husson or the #11 host Cougars.
