Rochester, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's soccer team (4-3-3, 1-1-1 Empire 8) played to a 1-1 tie with Nazareth (6-4-1, 2-0-1 Empire 8) Sunday. The Bombers ended Nazareth's two-game winning streak to start the conference season.
Junior midfielder Matt Baluzy (Roosevelt/Salt Point) scored Ithaca's goal in the 76th minute. Nazareth opened the game by scoring just five minutes into the first half. The Bombers outshot the Golden Flyers 12-2 in the second half. Ithaca played the last 23 minutes of the match with an advantage in manpower after a Nazareth player was issued a red card.
Junior goalkeeper Justin Parlapiano (Stafford/Stafford Springs, Conn.) made four saves. Ithaca outshot Nazareth 21-12 overall and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks during the overtime periods.
Ithaca returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Bombers host St. John Fisher.
