Rochester, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's soccer team (9-2, 6-0 Empire 8) won 1-0 at Nazareth (6-4-1, 2-1-0 Empire 8), handing the Golden Flyers their first loss of the conference season Saturday.
Ithaca's goal came in the first half, as senior midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schalmont/Schenectady) scored on an assist from graduate student Lauren Koppel (Southside/Rockville Center) in the 23rd minute.
Scheffer's goal was her team-leading 11th of the year (matching the program's 10th-highest single-season total) and gives her 33 in her career, good for fourth all-time at Ithaca.
Junior Alyssa Sotomayor (East Brunswick/East Brunswick, N.J.) made six saves for her seventh shutout of the season.
The Bombers continue their Emprie 8 road trip with a Sunday game at Hartwick.
