Bomber Women Win Dual at Le Moyne

Jodi Costello won on the diving board for Ithaca in the Bombers' fifth consecutive meet victory.

Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden) won three events, including two individual events, on Saturday to help lead the Bomber women's swimming & diving team (10-3) to a 162-138 win over Le Moyne (7-2). Rhoades won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.02 and the 100 free with a time of 54.82.

The Bombers continued their trend of fast starts by winning the first event of the meet, and set a pool record. The quartet of sophomore Amanda Vitullo (Schalmont/Schenectady), senior Lauren Botterbusch (Dallastown Area/York, Pa.), junior Jen Heberton (Darien/Darien, Conn.) and Rhoades won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.43.

Botterbusch also won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.74 and the 200 breast (2:28.42) Freshman Kelly Murphy (Blake/Silver Spring, Md.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:56.60 and the 500 free (5:18.15).

Freshman Jodi Costello (Framingham/Framingham, Mass.) and junior Naomi Mark (Dansville/Dansville) were the top divers for the Bombers. Costello won the six dive 1-meter event with 142.95 points and Mark won the 11 dive 1-meter event with 203.40 points.

The Bombers host the Ithaca Diving Invitational Sunday at 10 a.m. and the entire team will return to dual meet action Saturday at Union.
