ITHACA, N.Y. - Senior Lauren Botterbusch (Dallastown/Yorktown, Pa.) was a part of four wins, met the NCAA B Qualifying Standard in the 100-yard breaststroke and was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that set a Hill Center pool record as the Ithaca women's swimming & diving team (8-3) defeated Rochester (4-8) 183-117 on Saturday in Ithaca.
Botterbusch blazed through the 100 breast with time 1:07.57, qualifying for NCAA consideration. Sophomore Becca Blazak (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, Pa.) finished in second with a time of 1:09.21. Botterbusch also won the 200 breast with a time of 2:30.23 and earned a victory in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:18.26.
Botterbusch earned her first victory of the day helping the quartet of freshman Amanda Vitullo (Schalmont/Schenectady), junior Jen Heberton (Darien/Darien, Conn.) and sophomore Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden) win the 200 medley relay while setting a pool record with a time of 1:50.05.
The quartet of freshman Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott), Blazak, freshman Cali DeSanto (Mexico/Mexico) and sophomore Maddie Kennedy (Head Royce/Alameda, Calif.) placed second with a time of 1:55.57.
Keesler won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.35 and the 200 back (2:10.81). Kennedy won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.58 and freshman Kelly Murphy (Blake/Silver Spring, Md.) won the 1,000 free (11:08.68.) and 500 free (5:20.63).
Rhoades also won the 50 free with a time of 24.83 seconds and the 100 free in 54.23 seconds. Sophomore Emily Britz (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:19.77. Heberton won the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.46, followed by DeSanto (1:04.20) and Vitullo (1:05.34) in second and third.
Junior Naomi Mark (Dansville/Dansville) was the top diver for the Bombers. Mark placed first on the 1-meter board with 215.55 points and second on the 3-meter board with 215.35 points.
The Bombers swim again Wednesday at William Smith at 7 p.m.
