Women's Soccer Team Blanks Oneonta For Third Straight Win

Amy Scheffer scored Ithaca's first goal
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women's soccer team (4-1-1), ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA regional poll, defeated the seventh-ranked Oneonta Red Dragons (4-3) by a score of 3-0 Tuesday. The win snapped the Bombers' five-game losing streak against Oneonta and marked their highest scoring game against the Red Dragons since 1995.

Junior forward Winnie Adrien (Blairstown Academy/Selden, N.J.) led the way for the Bomber offense with two goals and an assist. She has five goals and three assists for 13 points on the season. Her three assists leads the team and her 13 points ties for the team lead.

Junior midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schenectady/Schalmont) scored the game winner for the Bombers at 5:53 into the contest. She received Adrien's cross and beat the keeper for her third goal of the year.

Sophomore goalie Alyssa Sotomayor (East Brunswick/East Brunswick, N.J.) played all 90 minutes for Ithaca. She made four saves to earn her second shutout of the season and improve her goals against average to 0.96.

Ithaca visits Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday in an Empire 8 contest. The Ducks, who are ranked 10th in the latest regional poll, have a 46-game unbeaten streak at home; the Bombers hold an Empire 8-record 33-game unbeaten streak in conference play.
