New Haven, Conn.-- The gymnastics team (2-12) earned its second win of the season after the Bombers placed second out of three teams at a meet Sunday at Southern Connecticut State University. Ithaca had a final score of 185.925, which defeated Rhode Island (170.400), but lost to division II Southern Connecticut (188.600). Junior Roxanne DeShaies (Biddeford/Biddeford, Maine) placed first in the uneven bars with a school-record of 9.675. It marks her second consecutive meet placing first in the event.
Freshman
Kailee Spusta (Palmyra-Macedon/Macedon) placed second in the floor exercise with a score of 9.700. Sophomore
Rachel Taylor (San Pasqual/Escondido, Calif.) tied for second on the vault with a score of 9.525, while freshman
Lauren Marcoux (Glastonbury/South Glastonbury, Conn.) and sophomore
Brianne Sullivan (Schuylerville/Gansevoort) tied for third place in the balance beam with a score of 9.425. For the second time this season, a Bomber placed in the top three in each individual event.
The meet marked the second time this season the Bombers faced Southern Connecticut. In Ithaca’s first meet of the season on Jan. 13, Southern Connecticut defeated Ithaca 185.85-178.775.
Ithaca is back in action March 1, competing against Massachusetts Institute of Technology and host #2 Brockport at 1 p.m.
