Bombers Remain Undefeated With Win Over RPI

Sheila Rhoades won three events on Saturday afternoon
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team (3-0) defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 145 -93 in the team's first home meet of the season Saturday. Ithaca's 400 medley relay team of freshman Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott), freshman Cali DeSanto (Mexico/Mexico), senior Lauren Botterbusch (Dallastown/York, Pa.) and sophomore Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden), swam 4:07.63 to get the Bombers off to a strong start.

Keesler also won the 400 backstroke with a time of 2:12.14. Rhoades won both the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.94 seconds and the 50 freestyle (25.23). Botterbusch captured the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:19.46.

Sophomore Meg Stover (Pennridge/Perkasie, Pa.) won both diving events, scoring 202.95 points for five dives on the 3-meter board and 197.30 on the 1-meter board.

Junior Laura Kucsan (Bridgewater-Raritan/Bridgewater, N.J.) captured the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:21.39 and sophomore Maddie Kennedy (Head Royce/Alameda, Calif.) won the 200 free with a time of 2:01.24.

Freshman Kelly Murphy (Blake/Silver Spring, Md.) captured the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:20.40

The quartet of sophomore Maddie Kennedy, sophomore Rebecca Blazak (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, Pa.), sophomore Joanna Ferreri (Niskayuna/Niskayuna), and freshman Missy Keesler won the 400 freestyle relay in exhibition with a time of 3:49.99.

The Bombers visit Cortland for a dual meet Saturday at 1 p.m.
