Pittsford, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's soccer team (8-2-3, 3-0-2 Empire 8) remained unbeaten in Empire 8 play and the Bombers posted their third consecutive shutout in a 0-0 tie at St. John Fisher (4-7-2, 2-2-1 Empire 8) Sunday afternoon. It was Ithaca's second 0-0 draw of the week, also having played to a tie at Hobart on Wednesday.
Senior goalkeeper Andy Wilhelm (Centennial/Ellicott City, Md.) made four saves in the shutout. It Wilhelm's third consecutive shutout, his fifth shutout of the season and 20th of his career. The Bombers have held their opponents off the scoreboard for a span of 366 minutes, 11 seconds dating back to the early portions of the first half of a game on Oct. 11.
Ithaca outshot St. John Fisher 6-1 in the first half but forced only one save from the Cardinals' goalkeeper. Wilhelm made all four of his saves in the second half, and the Bombers outshot St. John Fisher 6-1 during the two overtime periods, but didn't find the back of the net.
Ithaca returns home to Carp Wood Field on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game against first-place Stevens Institute of Technology. The Bombers (3-0-2 Empire 8) trail Stevens (4-0-1 Empire 8) by one point in the standings, and these two teams are the only unbeaten teams in the conference.
