Alfred, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's soccer team (8-2-2, 3-0-1 Empire 8) defeated Alfred (1-13-0, 0-4-0 Empire 8) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Alfred. The Bombers remained unbeaten in Empire 8 play and moved into a first-place tie atop the conference standings.

Seniors accounted for all of the goals for the Bombers. Jason Kaufman (Amherst/Leverett, Mass.) opened the scoring in the 24th minute with an unassisted goal. Kurt Odenbach (McQuaid Jesuit/Webster) scored twice in the second half for Ithaca, and both were assisted by sophomore Jeff Geyer (Rham/Hebron, Conn.).

Senior goalkeeper Andy Wilhelm (Centennial/Ellicott City, Md.) made six saves in the shutout. It was his fourth shutout of the season and 19th of his career.

Ithaca returns to action Sunday at St. John Fisher for a 1 p.m. game.
