ITHACA, N.Y. - The women's tennis team improved to 6-0 on the year after an 8-1 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology (7-4, 4-3) in an Empire 8 contest. Three Bombers were double winners as Ithaca improves to 5-0 in Empire 8 play this season.
Sophomore
Devra Reiman (Columbia/Maplewood, N.J.) tallied a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles and teamed with junior
Alyssa Jaffe (Pascack Hills/Montvale, N.J.) at first doubles to post a 9-7 victory.
Reiman leads the Bombers in singles play with a 10-1 record.
Jaffe was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at third singles as she improves to 7-2 in singles matches this season.
Freshmen
Melanie Cohen (Hatboro-Horsham/Ambler, Pa.) and
Melissa Nunez (Morris Hills/Rockaway, N.J.) teamed at second doubles to post an 8-5 win.
Cohen recorded straight-set victories at first singles and is off to a 9-1 start in singles play.
Senior
Rachel Gunderson (Maple Grove/Bemus Point) notched a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles. She improved to 9-3 in singles competition this season. Junior
Natalie Jenereski (Knoch/Butler, Pa.) earned straight-set victories at sixth singles. Sophomore
Sarah Hollis (Greens Farms Academy/Fairfield, Conn.) tallied straight-set wins at fifth singles and concluded a sweep in singles play by the Bombers.
The Bombers return to action on the road Tuesday against St. John Fisher in an Empire 8 contest.
