Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Win Over Geneseo

Rachel Busch hit .533 against Geneseo with eight kills and no errors in 15 attempts.
ITHACA, N.Y. – The volleyball team improved to 11-3 on the season with a 3-0 (30-21, 30-16, 30-19) victory over Geneseo (7-8) Tuesday night at Ben Light Gymnasium. Senior outside hitter Andria Mynders (Minisink Valley/Greenville) recorded a match-high 11 kills for the Bombers.
 
Ithaca led game one by just a single point at 13-12 before scoring 10 of the next 13 points to take a 23-15 lead. Sophomore middle hitter Jen Heberton (Darien/Darien, Conn.) closed out game one with on of her nine kills on the evening for the 30-21 final.
 
The Bombers pulled away early in games two and three to put the match away. Ithaca scored 20 of the first 25 points in game two and led by as many as 16 points at 28-12. The Bombers held a double-digit advantage most of the way in game three after pulling ahead 18-8 midway through he final game..
 
Senior outside hitter Amanda Hubbard (Horseheads/Horseheads) added nine kills and match-high 11 digs for the Bombers. Senior setter Jenna Yehl (Horseheads/Horseheads) totaled 17 assists, four digs and three service aces, while sophomore setter Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) tallied 15 assists. Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) hit .533 in the match, registering eight kills in 15 attempts with no errors.
 
Ithaca returns to action this weekend at St. John Fisher for the first of two Empire 8 crossovers. The Bombers open play Friday against Nazareth at 4 p.m. and Elmira at 6:30 p.m. before taking on Alfred and Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday with respective start times of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30.
