Rochester, N.Y. – The men’s tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with an 8-1 victory over Hobart in the consolation bracket final of the Flower City Tournament. Sophomore
Danny Wolk (The Field School/Potomac, Md.) was one of four double winners for Ithaca.
Wolk posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at fourth singles and teamed with sophomore
Taylor Borda (West Morris-Mendham/Chester, N.J.), who was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at first singles, for a 9-8 (4) victory at second doubles. Sophomore
Liam Berkowitz (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) registered a three-set victory at fifth singles (6-3, 4-6, 6-2), while senior
Jeff Buffum (Morristown/ Morristown, N.J.) notched a 6-3, 6-1 win at sixth singles
Freshman
Alex Stoler (Pascack Valley/River Vale, N.J.) was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at second singles, while classmate John Rifkin
(Homestead/Ft. Wayne, ind.) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at third singles.
Rifkin and
Stoler also teamed for an 8-3 victory at first doubles.
Ithaca will next compete at the St. Lawrence Fall Classic Sept. 22-23.
