Women's Soccer Blanks RIT 4-0

Junior midfielder Nikki Rice scored her first goal of the season in the win.

ITHACA, N.Y. – The women’s soccer team (5-1-0, 2-0) defeated Rochester Institute of Technology (2-3-1, 0-1) 4-0 on Saturday at Carp Wood Field. The Bombers scored all four of their goals in the second half after being unable to find the back of the net despite a number of good opportunities in the first half.

Junior forward Chelsey Feldman (Lynbrook/Hewlett) opened the scoring for the Bombers in the 52nd minute on an unassisted goal after she stole the ball from an RIT defender. It was her team-leading fifth goal of the year.

Other scoring for Ithaca came from sophomore forward Winnie Adrien (Blairstown Academy/Blair, N.J.) who scored her second goal of the year on a header off of a corner kick by senior back Beth Hoover (Rochester/Greece Athena). Sophomore midfielder Emily Mogk (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman) and junior midfielder Nikki Rice (Sutton, Mass./Sutton Memorial) each scored their first goals of the season.

Senior forward Alli Mayo (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) also tallied an assist.

Senior goalie Aimee Meacham (Massena/Massena) played all 90 minutes and made one save for the shutout.

The victory set a new Empire 8 record for the Bombers, who have gone undefeated in their last 26 conference games. They have posted a record of (24-0-2) over this stretch, dating back to the 2004 season.

Ithaca will visit Cortland on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
