Baseball Continues To Roll With 8-3 Win Over Clarkson

Watertown, N.Y. -- The baseball team (18-8) won its sixth-straight game by defeating Clarkson (4-18)Thursday, 8-3. Junior Shane Wolf (Lansing/Freeville) struck out six batters and allowed two earned runs on four hits. He is now 3-0 on the year. Sophomore Brian Gardner (Fairport/Fairport) pitched two innings in relief and struck out five.

Junior catcher Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort) and sophomore shortstop Kurt Bednarcyk (Fairport/Fairport) each registered triples in the game. Raux's three bagger scored senior outfielder Eric Maya (Rome Free Academy/Rome) in the fifth. Raux led the team with three hits (3-for-4), while Maya went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.  Bednarcyk, who was 2-for-4, tripled in the sixth and then scored on a sacrifice fly by junior second baseman Todd Czerno (Columbia/Brainard).

Junior third baseman Eric Ferguson (Columbia/East Greenbush) hit a double in the seventh to score Maya. Ferguson is tied with Raux with eight doubles on the season.

Bednarcyk drove in the game's first run when he singled to right field to score Raux in the third. Friedman, who went 2-for-5 with a double, singled to left field in the seventh to score Ferguson.  The final two Bomber runs came in the eights as a result of a Clarkson throwing error.

The Bombers travel to Brockport Saturday for a doubleheader scheduled for 1 p.m.
