#28 Wrestling Edges #15 Lycoming 20-17

Tyler Daffinee's pin helped spark Ithaca's comeback win

Williamsport, Pa. – The #28 Bombers rallied from a 17-0 deficit to beat host Lycoming (ranked 15th) 20-17 Friday. In the decisive heavyweight bout, freshman Joe Goetz (New Hyde Park Memorial/New Hyde Park) – wrestling in his first collegiate match – recorded an overtime takedown to win 7-5 and give the Bombers the victory.

After the Warriors won the first five bouts, Ithaca’s comeback began with freshman John Dale (Indian River/Theresa) recording a major decision at 165. Senior Tyler Daffinee (Binghamton/Binghamton) picked up a pin at 174 and senior Nick Calandrino (Emerson/Emerson, N.J.) notched a major decision at 184 to pull the Bombers to within three points. Freshman Mirza Kozarcanin (Burgarden/Gothenberg, Sweden) won 4-2 at 197 pounds to tie the score and set up Goetz' match-winning performance.
