Auburn, N.Y. -- The Bombers dropped their first game of the tournament when Cortland rallied from a 6-2 deficit and withstood a late Bomber rally. Sophomore center fielder Eric Maya (Rome Free Academy/Rome) tripled and singled, freshman outfielder Eric Ferguson (Columbia/East Greenbush) doubled and singled and senior outfielder Ben McBride (Ridgefield/Ridgefield, Conn.) added a pair of hits. Maya and freshman catcher Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort) each scored two runs. Junior first baseman PJ Canestrari (Randolph/Ironia, N.J.) drove in two and stole a base. McBride and Ferguson singled in runs in the eighth and ninth, respectively, to pull the Bombers to within one run. Ithaca had runners on first and second with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but couldn’t score the tying run.
