Junior tight end Vince Dargush (Amsterdam/Amsterdam) caught a pair of touchdown passes to lead Ithaca past Alfred 30-0 as the Bombers opened the season with a win for the 23rd time in 27 years. The win came in front of a Homecoming crowd of 2,723 as Ithaca celebrated Homecoming with a victory for the 20th time in 22 years. Sophomore quarterback Josh Felicetti (Central Bucks East/Doylestown, Pa.) completed 20 of 27 passes for 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Senior running back Pete Celebre (Strath Haven/Wallingford, Pa.) ran for 116 yards and became the 23rd Bomber to reach 1,000 career yards. He raised his career total to 1,038 yards, good for 22nd on the program's career list. He scored the game's first touchdown on a one-yard run to cap Ithaca's opening drive. Senior cornerback Seth Molisani (Canandaigua Academy/Canandaigua) intercepted a Saxon pass on Alfred's first play from scrimmage following Celebre's touchdown. One play later Felicetti threw a seven-yard touchdown to Dargush. Dargush, who also caught a 27-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, finished with a six catches (the first six of his career) for 90 yards -- the most by a Bomber tight end since Oct. 25, 1997. The Bombers scored twice in the second quarter; junior fullback Jamie Free (The Gunnery School/Brookfield, Conn.) rushed for a one-yard touchdown and freshman Brett Kitenplon (Admiral Farragut Academy/Seminole, Fla.) kicked a 33-yard field goal. Kitenplon also kicked three extra points. Ithaca's defense limited the Saxons to 106 yards of total offense (on 59 plays), including just 15 yards on 25 first-half plays. Sophomore linebacker Dustin Ross (Salamanca/Salamanca) led Ithaca's defensive effort with a game-high 11 tackles. Junior cornerback Matt Tosh (Abington Heights/Clarks Summit, Pa.) intercepted two passes (including one on his own three-yard line) and broke up two others. Freshman defensive tackle Dave Celeste (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda), one of five first-time starters in Ithaca's line-up, was in on two of the Bombers' six sacks.
