Biography

2009-10: Woszczak was the nation’s top-ranked wrestler during most of the season and earned all-America honors with his second consecutive fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. He won 38 matches – matching Ithaca’s second-highest single-season total – and became the first Bomber to reach 100 career victories during his junior season. Woszczak won his first career conference title, beating four opponents at the ECWC Championships. He also won individual titles at both the season-opening Ithaca Invitational and York’s Spartan Classic (earning Most Outstanding Wrestler at the latter), helping the Bombers win team crowns at both events. He earned all-state recognition by placing fourth at the New York State Championships for the second year in a row. Woszczak was named an NWCA Scholar All-American and earned a spot on the inaugural ECWC All-Academic Team. He led Ithaca in victories, major decisions and technical falls.

2008-09: Woszczak recorded Ithaca’s highest finish at nationals, earning all-America honors with a fourth-place finish (beating the top seed along the way). A wild-card pick to the NCAA Championships after taking second at the ECWC meet, he was a two-time ECWC Wrestler of the Week. Woszczak earned all-state recognition by finishing fourth at the New York State Championships and was the runner-up at the Sunshine Open.

2007-08: Woszczak earned a wild-card bid to nationals after placing second at the ECWC Championships. He was the second Bomber in a row to be voted ECWC Rookie of the Year and earned the conference’s rookie of the week award three times. He opened his career with a fourth-place finish at the Ithaca Invitational and took third at the Williamstown Invitational.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Wall High School, Woszczak was coached by Jason Nose. He placed sixth in the state as a senior and was a four-time district champion and a two-time regional placewinner. Woszczak posted a career record of 113-26 with 66 pins.

Personal: A management major, he is the son of Mark and Donna Woszczak.
