Biography

2009-10: DeStefano vaulted a season-best 3.60 meters at Cornell on Feb. 20 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships and set a new school record. She claimed the Empire 8 and NYSCTC indoor pole vault titles and placed fifth at the ECAC Indoor Championships earning All-ECAC recognition. She also ran season best times of 9.4 in the 55-meter hurdles at the state championships and 10.9 in the 60 hurdles on Dec. 5. During the outdoor season, DeStefano also set a new school record in the pole vault as she cleared 3.50 meters in winning the event at the NYSCTC Outdoor Championships. She finished second in the event at the conference championships. DeStefano also competed in the 100 hurdles, setting a season-best time of 16.85.

2008-09:
DeStefano was Empire 8 champion in the pole vault at both championship meets. Indoors, she cleared 3.25 meters and she cleared 3.10 meters in the spring. DeStefano was also state champion in the event with a vault of 3.25 meters at the outdoor NYSCTC Championships. DeStefano qualified for the ECAC Championships in the pole vault during both seasons. In addition, DeStefano was a member of Ithaca’s 800-meter relay team that placed third at the indoor state meet.

2007-08: During the indoor season DeStefano was named all-ECAC after placing eighth at the championships. Her vault of 3.37 meters at the ECAC Indoor Championships is an Ithaca indoor record. DeStefano was named all-NYSCTC twice in the pole vault, finishing third at the Indoor Championships and fourth at the Outdoor Championships, vaulting 3.05 meters both times. DeStefano also ran the hurdles, placing fifth (17.22) in the 100-meter hurdles at the outdoor Empire 8 meet, and sixth (9.64) in the 55-meter hurdles at the conference indoor meet.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Onteora High School, DeStefano was coached by Patrick Burkhardt and Carol Okoren. She won Section IX and league titles in the pole vault and ran on a Section IX-champion 1,600-meter relay team. DeStefano was named team MVP as a senior.

Personal: A physical therapy major, she is the daughter of Gene and Dorothy DeStefano.
