High School: A 2011 graduate of Scarborough High School, Scheemaker lettered four times in track & field under head coach Ron Kelley. She was a captain her senior year and a two-time triple jump state champion. She was the indoor long jump state champion in 2011. Scheemaker was also a member of the soccer team.

Personal: A biology and writing double major, she is the daughter of Joan Lawton and David Scheemaker.
