Biography

2007: Birek competed on the vault in six meets and earned her top score of the season (9.600) on the uneven bars at the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational. Birek also competed on the uneven bars in all seven meets, earning a season average of 9.2892.  She was named ECAC Specialist of the Week after her performance at the Cornell Invitational. Birek finished seventh at the ECAC Championships in the uneven bars (9.425) and 13th in the vault (9.400).
 
2006: Birek competed on the uneven bars in eight meets, including the ECAC Championships where she placed 10th (9.175). Her top score (9.225) came at the Cornell Invitational. Birek recorded a fifth-place finish (9.025) at Ithaca’s Harriet Marranca Memorial.
 
2005: Birek did not see any action as a freshman because of an injury.

Club: Birek competed at Exper-Tiess Gymnastics Club, where she was coached by Barbara Caryl and Mary Tiess. She placed first in the vault at the 2004 Level 10 regionals and took second in the all-around. Birek was the uneven bars champion and the all-around runner-up at the 2003 Empire State Games.

Personal: A clinical science/physical therapy major, she is the daughter of Paul and Barbara Birek.
