Tara Masters is a native Ithacan and Ithaca College alumna and was added to the women's rowing and sculling coaching staff prior to the 2024-25 season. She picked up rowing at Cascadilla Boat Club as a high school student, successfully earning gold in the 2x & silver in the 1x at the 1989 and 1990 Empire State Games respectively. She stroked CBCs HS W4+ to an 11th place finish at the Head of Charles and also served as the student liaison to the clubs Board of Directors during that time.
In 1991, she continued her rowing career at Ithaca College. After enjoying a successful novice season of medals, including a third-place finish at the Dad Vail, she took a hiatus to focus on her studies in the Park School of Communications. However, the water kept calling her back, and she returned to the team in her senior year to compete in the lightweight W8+ and graduate as both a Cinema and Photography major and a Bomber rower.
Tara is currently the Chief Operations Officer for Tompkins Financial Advisors, a division of Tompkins Financial Corporation where she leads a team who manages tax, compliance and operations.
Masters is a NYS DEC Licensed Guide for hiking and camping and was an instructor at the Cornell Outdoor education department, leading wilderness survival courses as well as hiking instruction.Â
