Biography
2009-10: During the indoor season of his junior year, Devins provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in a pair of events. He recorded season-bests of 7.20 meters in the long jump and 14.16 meters in the triple jump. After earning Empire 8 Athlete of the Week on Jan. 18, Devins won the long and triple jumps at the Empire 8 Indoor Championships en route to being named Field Athlete of the Meet. Named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, Devins was the outdoor state champion in the long and triple jumps and the conference champion in the long. He tallied a season-best NCAA provisional qualifier of 7.01 meters in the long at the Empire 8 Championships, and a season-best 14.08-meter triple jump mark at the NYSCTC meet.
2008-09: Devins qualified for the NCAA Championships in the long jump. He placed 16th the nation in the event, registering a jump of 6.57 meters. He was also outdoor champion in the long jump in both the Empire 8 and NYSCTC. He added an Empire 8 title in the triple jump during the outdoor season, while placing fourth in that event at the state meet. Indoors, Devins was Empire 8 champion in the triple jump and runner-up in the long jump. At the state meet, he won the long jump and placed second in the triple jump. Devins was a two-time Empire 8 Athlete of the Week and was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team following the season.
2007-08: As a freshman, Devins was an Empire 8 Champion in the triple jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Outdoors, he was also the Empire 8 champion in the long jump and NYSCTC champion in the triple jump. His triple jump of 14.12 meters at the state meet was a season best and met the provisional standard for the national championship. Devins earned all-state status in both jumps during both seasons, and placed 11th in the triple jump at the ECAC Outdoor Championships. He also qualified in the long jump. Devins was a member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
High School: Devins earned four varsity letters in outdoor track & field for coach Heith Ford at Ausable Valley High School. He was a two-time sectional champion in the long and triple jump events, and qualified for the state championship in both events. He also was a member of the indoor track & field team, qualifying for the state championship in the long jump and the 1,600-meter relay. Devins also earned two letters as a member of the football team.
Personal: An athletic training/exercise science major, he is the son of Kevin and Kim Devins.
