Biography
2010-11: Purcell earned all-state honors for the indoor triple jump as a sophomore. Indoors he recorded season-best marks of 6.00 meters in the long jump and 12.97 meters in the triple jump, while outdoors he had distances of 5.98 meters in the long and 12.84 meters in the triple.
2009-10: During the indoor season of his freshman year, Purcell twice competed in the triple jump and set a season-best mark of 12.91 meters at the Cornell Relays on Dec. 5. During the outdoor season, Purcell earned All-NYSCTC honors with a third-place finish in the triple jump at the state meet. He tallied season-best marks of 5.82 in the long jump and 13.23 in the triple.
High School: A 2009 graduate of Sauquoit Valley, Purcell was coached by Scott Pritchard. He earned two varsity letters in track & field as well as lettering in soccer, volleyball and tennis.
Personal: A physical therapy major, he is the son of Kathy and Rick Purcell.
