Biography
2004-05: Ryan swam in seven events at the Empire 8 Championship, recording a top-eight finish in all seven. Ryan also placed within the top ten in six events at the state championships, including a seventh-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley (4:24.30). That time was good for fourth in the Empire 8 Championship. Ryan swam with four relay squads that recorded top-six performances at the conference meet. He also swam with winning 400-yard medley squads in Ithaca victories over Cortland, Rochester and Division-II Bloomsburg.
2003-04: Ryan was a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that won state and conference titles in 1:35.53. At the UNYSCSA meet he placed fifth in the 200- and 400-yard individual medleys (1:59.82 and 4:18.90, respectively), 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.17) and seventh as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay. He swam career-best times in the prelims of the 200- and 400-yard I.M. (1:59.62 and 4:18.52, respectively) that rank eight and seventh, respectively, all-time at Ithaca. At the Empire 8 meet he finished third in the 400-yard I.M., fourth in the 200-yard I.M., sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke and fourth as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay. He was named to the UNYSCSA all-academic team.
2002-03: Ryan finished the season with 170 points. He placed fifth in the conference and seventh at the state meet in the 400-yard I.M. (4:25.07). He also finished sixth in the 200-yard I.M. and eighth in the 200-yard butterfly at the conference meet with times of 2:01.04 and 2:07.39, respectively. Ryan recorded five top-four finishes in the 200-yard butterfly in dual meets.
High School: Swimming for coaches Pat Hay and Tina Horn, Ryan was a four-year letter winner at Interboro High School.
Personal: The son of Jim and Carolyn Ryan, he is a sports information and communication major.
