Biography
2006-07: Degon scored in two individual events in his first state meet with the Bombers. Degon finished 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17.87 and 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.58. He also competed in the 200-yard individual medley, placing 31st (2:15.27). Degon recorded three top-three finishes during the season, including a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke in Ithaca’s victory over Division II Bloomsburg. He also posted a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at Rensselaer’s seven-team Henry Kumpf Invitational. Degon was named to the UNYSCSA All-Academic team following the season.
2004-06: Degon was a member of the swimming & diving team at Monroe Community College. He helped lead the team to first-place finishes at the 2005 and 2006 NJCAA Regional Championships and two third-place finishes at the NJCAA National Championships. At the 2005 regional meet, Degon placed fifth in the 400-yard individual medley and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke. He then placed 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke and ninth in the 200-yard Breaststroke at the 2005 NJCAA national championships. Degon was the 2006 regional champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard medley relay team and was the regional runner-up in the 400-yard individual medley. He placed sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke, seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke and 11th in the 400-yard individual medley and the 2006 NJCAA national championships.
High School: A 2004 graduate of Franklin Academy, Degon earned five varsity letters as a member of the swimming & diving team. He was an all-sectional performer and was named team MVP his junior and senior years. Degon also lettered in cross country and track & field.
Personal: An integrated marketing communications major, he is the son of Scott and Jane Degon.
