The 2026 season will mark the second season with Gabe Kuhn at the helm of the Ithaca College men's soccer program. Kuhn was named the 12th coach in program history on January 20, 2025. In his debut season, the Bombers posted a 7-6-4 record and rose to a national ranking of No. 19, setting the standard for the program moving forward. The year was highlighted by Drew Warren earning All-Liberty League honors, five players being named CSC All Academic-District, and 18 student-athletes receiving All-Conference Academic recognition, which was the most in the Liberty League.

Kuhn arrived to the South Hill after a highly successful tenure at Alfred State, where he led a complete program turnaround. In 2024, the Pioneers went 13-3-3, including an unbeaten 6-0-2 conference record, and captured their first AMCC regular season title. The team allowed just one conference goal all season and placed a program-record 10 players on the All-Conference team. Kuhn was named AMCC Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Jack Leahy earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and became the first All-American in program history, while Travis Scandalis was named Newcomer of the Year. Nationally, Alfred State ranked top five in multiple categories, including No. 2 in scoring offense and No. 3 in goal differential.

In 2023, Kuhn led the Pioneers to a record-setting 17-4-1 season, capturing their first AMCC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Five players earned All-Conference honors, with Jack Leahy named Defensive Player of the Year and Garrett Potts Offensive Player of the Year. Both Leahy and Potts became the first in program history to earn All-Region honors. The team finished the season ranked number one nationally in goal differential, total goals, and total points.

The program’s rise began in 2022 with a 10-6-4 record, its first winning season, and a third-place conference finish. In 2021, the team made its first AMCC playoff appearance and reached the semifinals. Kuhn took over a one-win team in 2019 and steadily built it into an NCAA Tournament team. The 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19.

Before joining Alfred State, Kuhn served as an assistant at Stevenson University (2016–18), helping the program achieve a 12-9-1 record and secure its first postseason appearance since 2010. He also coached at McDaniel College in the highly competitive Centennial Conference and held roles with the Maryland Olympic Development Program, in addition to gaining extensive experience at the high school and club levels.

Kuhn began his collegiate career at NCAA Division III Cabrini University in 2010, quickly establishing himself as a key contributor. In his sophomore season (2011), he played at Harford Community College (NJCAA), where he led the team to its first Maryland JUCO Conference title with an 11-0-1 record, a national ranking, and a program-record 14-4-1 overall. His standout play earned First Team All-Maryland JUCO, First Team All-Region, All-Maryland Tournament Team honors, and a spot on the program’s 2010–2020 All-Decade Team. Returning to Cabrini in 2012 and 2013, Kuhn captained the squad, guiding them to the NCAA Tournament in 2012 and consistently competing for conference championships. He was a first-team all-conference selection and earned All-Region Second Team recognition.

Kuhn resides in Lansing, New York with his wife Caroline and their children, Bowen and Isla.
