Biography

2004: Rutherford was moved to wide receiver and earned his first letter after playing in every regular-season game. He was Ithaca’s second-leading kickoff returner, averaging 17.3 yards per return. Rutherford made his first career catch in the win over Hartwick.

2003: As a sophomore, Rutherford made two appearances in the offensive backfield. He scored his first career touchdown in Ithaca’s win over Utica, scoring on a one-yard run. He was named the team’s Hustler of the Week following the win over St. John Fisher.

2002: Rutherford played in two games as a reserve running back. He made his varsity debut in the win over St. Lawrence, gaining 25 yards on four carries. He rushed for 15 yards in the win over Buffalo State.

High School: At New Milford (Conn.) High School, Rutherford was coached by Tom Taylor.

Personal: A business administration major, he is the son of Daniel and Kathy Rutherford. He is an Empire 8 all-star with Ithaca’s NCAA playoff baseball team.
