He recorded two solo tackles in the Hartwick victory a week later. Varney posted season-best totals of four carries and 17 rushing yards against Hartwick and gained 10 yards on the ground in the ECAC postseason win over Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

2003: Varney lettered as a reserve in Ithaca’s offensive backfield and a special teams regular. He was the Bombers’ second-leading rusher in the St. Lawrence win, gaining 49 yards and scoring his first career touchdown. In the win at Buffalo State, he stopped a fake punt by sacking the Bengal upback for an 11-yard loss.
