Trevor Warner was hired to work at Ithaca College as a defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator in February 2019. Warner was promoted to defensive coordinator in the spring of 2020.
The Bombers had a historic season in 2022, which concluded with a 12-1 record and a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals. IC owned one of the top defenses in Division III, which ranked within the top 10-15 for most of the season in numerous categories. The Bombers forced 31 turnovers on the year to rank sixth nationally and scored four defensive touchdowns. Matt DeSimpliciis would be named Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year and Warner was recognized as Coaching Staff of the Year.
During the 2021 season, Ithaca posted an 8-2 record and the defensive unit allowed just 11.7 points per game. IC's defense was top 10 nationally in seven different categories - defensive pass efficiency, fumbles recovered per game, yards given up per play, scoring defense, red zone defense, turnovers forced per game and passing touchdowns allowed.
Six members of the defense were named All-Liberty League in 2021, while Anthony Robinson was named Second-Team All-Region by D3football.com.
Warner worked as a defensive quality control/defensive backs coach at the University of Pennsylvania during the 2018 season. He assisted a defense that was 16th nationally in total points allowed per game (20.9), 15th in red zone defense (.727), 14th in sacks per game (3.0), 16th in fourth-down percentage (.333), 29th in total defense per game (340.9) and 19th in passing yards allowed per game (185).
Before UPenn, Warner coached at Concordia University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he was responsible for the defensive backs in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He also coordinated punt and field goal/extra point block units that blocked three punts out of 44 attempts which was good enough for sixth in the nation percentage wise. His units held opposing kickers to a 40% conversion rate and blocked five kicks (23rd in the nation).
Warner played at St. John’s University in Minnesota from 2012-2015. A four-year member of the team, Warner started in 37 games and was a two-time team captain. He helped lead the team to two national playoff berths and one conference championship (2014). Warner was a two-time all-conference honorable mention selection and was named first-team all-conference in 2015. Warner would end his career ranked sixth all-time at St. John’s in interceptions with 13.
Warner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in global business leadership from Saint John’s in 2016 and is working towards his Masters of Science in exercise science from Concordia University-Saint Paul, with an anticipated graduating date of August 2019.
