Career statistics
2011: O’Brien made seven starts at linebacker. Only three Bombers recorded more tackles for loss than O’Brien’s four. He made five tackles, including two solo stops and a tackle for loss, in the season-opening win over Brockport. He notched a season-high six tackles in the Union win. O’Brien collected four tackles in consecutive games against Empire 8 opponents St. John Fisher and Alfred. He had a pair of tackles for loss in the Cortaca Jug game. |

2010: O’Brien played in every game and started the season’s final three games. He ranked fourth on the team, and second among Bomber linebackers, with five pass break-ups. O’Brien recorded career-best totals of 14 tackles and eight solo stops in the win over Springfield. He was named Ithaca’s Hustler of the Week following that victory. A week later he made his first career start in the Utica win and collected three tackles and two pass break-ups and forced a fumble that the Bombers returned for a touchdown. 2009: O’Brien spent his sophomore season as a reserve linebacker.
2008: O’Brien played on Ithaca’s junior varsity team as a Bomber freshman.
High School: A 2007 graduate of Acton Boxborough High School, O’Brien was coached by Bill Mauer. A two-time league all-star, he was named team MVP and also lettered in basketball.
Personal: A health care management major, he is the son of John and Marybeth O’Brien.
