During Hall of Fame Weekend in October 2025, the newest facility at Ithaca College was officially unveiled - the Egan Family Track & Field Complex. The brand new eight-lane, 400-meter state-of-the-art track is located on the west side of campus at the former Yavitz Field. There are adjacent runways for jumping events, while the infield of the track will remain natural grass. A small nearby recreational field behind Emerson Hall has been repurposed for throwing events.
The total project cost was about $4 million, with most of the financing for it coming from the donors and the rest from institutional capital funds.
The running track at Butterfield Stadium was removed in 2023 to allow for the construction ofÂ
Bertino Field. Because of that track's outdated surface and non-standard turning radius, the college had not hosted a home track and field meet since 2015. The Egan Family Track & Field Complex meets current NCAA specifications, incorporating optimal technology for track surface and construction materials.
Along with the track, bleachers and a press box - dedicated in the name of former director of athletics Susan Bassett '79 - was also installed along the main straightaway.Â
The first official meet will take place in April 2026.
