Biography
2012: Salant, who garnered NSCAA College Division Scholar All-East Region First Team honors for the first time in her career, was also named to the All-Empire 8 First Team. Ranking fourth and seventh in the nation, respectively, with a save percentage of 0.914 and a goals-against average of 0.369., Salant had 11 complete shutouts to her name in 2012. Salant made 85 saves, allowing only eight goals, to post a record of 19-1-2 in goal. She earned Academic All-America Second-Team praise after being named to the District 3 All-Academic First Team. She was named the D3Soccer.com Goalkeeper of the Year, earning a spot on the D3Soccer.com First Team All-American. A NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Recipient, Salant was named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week twice. |
2012 game-by-game statistics
2011: Salant started every game in goal, posting a 0.95 goals-against average with a save percentage of .869. She made a school-record 139 saves – breaking Stephanie Dawson’s 16-year-old mark – and her 22 starts and 1,987:15 minutes between the pipes were both the second-highest single-season mark by a Bomber goalkeeper. Salant had a hand in each of Ithaca’s nine shutouts, recording seven solo shutouts. That total included three straight blankings in the NCAA playoffs, which helped earn her a spot on the all-tournament team at the final four; Salant and the Bomber defense went 386:32 without allowing a goal, blanking  #16 Ohio Northern, #3 Trinity [Texas] and Cortland. Salant’s shutout of Trinity lasted 101:42; she also recorded an overtime blanking of Nazareth in a scoreless tie. Salant made a career-high 13 saves in the season opener as the Bombers rallied to beat #12 New Jersey. She made 11 saves in a win over St. John Fisher and matched that total against #8 Wheaton [Ill.] in the NCAA semifinals. Salant collected nine in Ithaca’s 1-0 win over #3 Trinity [Texas] in the NCAA regional semifinals. She was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the week four times during the season – more than any other player in the conference. Career Statistics
High School: A 2009 graduate of Holliston High School, Salant was coached by Kristina Kern. She was named Trivalley League all-star and helped her team to the Trivalley championship in 2008. She was also named Eastern Massachusetts second-team all-star and was a team captain and defensive MVP. She lettered three times in basketball and four times in softball.
Personal: A physical therapy major, she is the daughter of Marty and Jane Salant.
