Career statistics

2011: Ruffrage earned third-team all-America honors as a kick returner and was named Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Year. He became the third Bomber to lead the nation in punt returns, helping Ithaca top Division III in the team category as well. Ruffrage’s national-best punt return average of 26.2 yards per return set a school record and he ranked 16th in kickoffs with an average of 26.6 yards per return. He tied a school record with three touchdowns on kick returns (two on punts – including a school-record 91-yard run back – and one on a kickoff).  Ruffrage also earned Empire 8 all-star honors as a wide receiver and finished his career with a school-record 151 catches; his 1,951 receiving yards also rank first all-time at Ithaca and his 15 touchdown catches are tied for fifth. He scored 110 points in his career, good for 20th on the program's all-time list. A second-year team captain, he was named the Bombers' Specialist of the Week following the Hartwick, St. John Fisher, Springfield and Alfred games and was picked as the team's Outstanding Back after the Cortland game. Ruffrage was named Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week after the Hartwick and Springfield games and was picked to D3football.com's Team of the Week after both performances. 2010: Ruffrage, who served as a team captain, earned all-conference honors at two positions for the second consecutive season. He received honorable mention as a wide receiver and kick returner. Ruffrage led Ithaca’s receivers with 53 catches and eight touchdowns and raised his career total to 103 receptions – good for eighth on Ithaca’s all-time list. He caught a career-best eight passes – including a pair of touchdown receptions – in the win over Widener; that was the first of three straight 100-yard receiving efforts. Ruffrage also scored a pair of touchdowns against Hartwick and Alfred. He was Ithaca’s top punt returner, averaging 13.9 yards per runback on 14 returns. Ruffrage also returned eight kickoffs. For the second year in a row, he threw for a touchdown on his only pass attempt of the season, completing a 41-yard scoring pass in the win over Union. 2009: After missing nearly all of his first two seasons, Ruffrage was named to the Empire 8 all-star team at two positions. He earned honorable mention as both a wide receiver and kick returner. Ruffrage was named Ithaca’s Most Improved Back at the postseason banquet. He caught 46 passes, including three touchdown catches, and averaged 13.6 yards per catch. Ruffrage, who also threw a 31-yard touchdown pass on an option play at Springfield, led the team in all-purpose yardage (11.96). He was named Ithaca’s Honorary Offensive Captain after the Hartwick and Springfield games and was selected as the team’s Outstanding Back after the Frostburg State and Springfield games. Ruffrage averaged a team-best 14.8 yards per punt return and was second on the team with an average of 18.3 yards per runback on kickoffs. He forced a fumble that the Bombers recovered on a Cortland interception return. He caught touchdown passes in the Widener and Frostburg State wins and scored on a touchdown reception and a two-point conversion against St. John Fisher. | 2009 game-by-game statistics

2008: Ruffrage played in three Bomber wins before suffering a season-ending injury. He caught a career-best three passes – including his first career touchdown reception – in the King’s victory. 2007: Ruffrage missed the season with an injury.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Ruffrage earned first-team all-state honors and served as team captain. He also lettered twice in basketball.

Personal: An exercise science major, he is the son of Steve and Jo Ruffrage. He spent two years with Ithaca’s basketball program; his brother Scott, who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ithaca, served as captain of that team for two years.
