Biography
2006-07: Spivak earned Empire 8 Athlete of the Week honors twice – once during the indoor season and once during the outdoor season. She posted all-state performances in the pole vault at both the NYSCTC Indoor Championships (sixth, 2.90 meters) and Outdoor Championships (third, 2.90 meters). Spivak was the Empire 8 champion during the outdoor season and the conference runner-up in the indoor season. She qualified for the ECAC Championships following both seasons, placing ninth at the indoor meet (3.22 meters) and 12th at the outdoor event (3.00 meters). Spivak was named to the Empire 8 Presidents’ List following the fall and spring semesters.
2005-06: Spivak won the Empire 8 title and placed fourth in the state in the pole vault at the outdoor championships with a school-record height of 3.19 meters (10-51/2). She also won the conference title at the indoor championships with a height of 2.90 meters (9-61/4), which placed her seventh in the state. Spivak recorded four first-place finishes in the pole vault during the outdoor season: at Hamilton (3.05m/10-0—twice), New Jersey (2.95m/9-8) and the Ithaca Tri-Meet (2.89m/9-53/4). She was named Empire 8 Athlete of the Week after the Hamilton meet.
High School: Spivak was a member of the indoor and outdoor track & field teams at Roosevelt High School and was coached by Jeff Grady, Fred Lyon and Jon Zenzel.
Personal: A clinical health studies/physical therapy major, she is the daughter of Mel and Michelle Spivak.
