Biography

2009-10: During the indoor season of his junior year, Wetmore was named the Track Athlete of the Meet at the Empire 8 Indoor Championships. He was an ECAC champion in the 800- and 1,600-meter relays and an All-ECAC selection in the 200 dash, an NYSCTC champion in the 800 and 1,600 relays and an all-state selection in the 55 and 200 dashes, while winning conference titles in the 200 dash and the 1,600 relay and placing second in the 55 dash. Wetmore competed in five individual events and a pair of relays during the indoor season. He helped set a school record in the 800 relay with a time of 1:29.66 and ran the third leg of the Bombers’ 3:22.52 1,600 relay. He also tallied season-best times of 6.58 in the 55 dash, 7.13 in the 60 dash, 22.63 in the 200 dash, 35.68 in the 300 dash and 52.03 in the 400 dash. Outdoors, Wetmore ran on a pair of record-setting relays for the Bombers. He anchored Ithaca’s 41.84 400 relay and ran a leg of the Bombers’ 1:27.60 800 relay. He also ran on Ithaca’s season-best 4x400 team that clocked in at 3:18.46. A USTFCCCA All-Academic Team selection, Wetmore was the NYSCTC champion in the 100 dash and 400 relay, in addition to earning all-state accolades in the 200 dash and 1,600 relay. Wetmore ran on the Bombers’ 4x100 relay that was victorious at the Empire 8 championships, while placing second in the 100 and 200 dashes at the conference meet. He clocked individual season-bests of 10.89 in the 100, 21.55 in the 200 and 52.23 in the 400.

2008-09:
Wetmore qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200-meter dash after setting the school record in the event at 21.56. He placed 16th in the nation in the event, running 22.42 at nationals. Wetmore broke the school record at the NYSCTC Championships, where he was the state champion in the event. He was also a member of the school-record setting 400 relay team that ran 42.20 to win the outdoor state title. The outdoor Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Year, Wetmore won four conference titles over the indoor and outdoor seasons. Indoors, he won the 55 and 200 dashes, and he won the 100 dash and 400 relay during the spring. He was also a runner-up in the outdoor 200 dash and a member of the second-place 1,600 relay squads during both seasons. In total, Wetmore was named to the All-ECAC team four times as a sophomore. Indoors, he was a member of the sixth-place 800 relay team and outdoors he placed sixth in the 200, eighth in the 100 and fifth as a member of the 400 relay. Following the season, Wetmore was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

2007-08:
Wetmore was named Empire 8 Track Rookie of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor season. During the indoor season, Wetmore was part of the 800-meter relay team that was named All-ECAC for finishing seventh at the ECAC Championships. He was also named all-state in three events: the 800-meter relay, the 200 dash, and the 1,600 relay. Wetmore won both the 55 dash and the 200 dash at the Empire 8 Championships and was runner up in the 1,600 relay. For his performance, Wetmore was named Empire 8 Indoor Championship Rookie of the Meet and made the Fall 2007 Empire 8 President’s List. Outdoors, Wetmore was named All-ECAC in two events, the 400 and the 200 dashes. He garned all-state in two relay events, the 1,600 and 400, and two individual events, the 200 and the 100 dashes. He was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Meet for the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships, where he won the 100, 200, and 400 titles and was runner-up as part of the 1,600 relay team.

High School: Wetmore is a graduate of Maple Grove High School, where he was a member of the track & field team. He was a three-time team captain and two-time MVP, setting school records of 11.10 in the 100-meter dash, 22.15 in the 200 dash, 51.10 in the 400 dash and 44.77 in the 400 relay. Wetmore earned five letters and also lettered in soccer. He was named to the Post-Journal All-star Team three times.

An applied economics major, he is the son of Vernon and Diana Wetmore.
