Biography
2009-10: During the indoor season of his junior year, Taylor earned All-ECAC accolades for his part in the Bombers’ distance medley relay and All-NYSCTC honors for his finish in the 400-meter dash. He competed in 11 individual events during the season, including the pentathlon, and a trio of relays. Taylor helped Ithaca to a 1:37.83 finish in the 800 relay, a 3:37.58 finish in the 1,600 relay and a 10:19.23 finish in the DMR. On the track, Taylor notched season-best times of 7.39 in the 60 dash, 9.00 in the 55 hurdles, 9.90 in the 60 hurdles, 37.24 in the 300 dash, 51.93 in the 400 dash, 1:13.12 in the 500 run and 3:03.42 in the 1,000 run. He hit marks of 1.71 meters in the high jump, 6.01 meters in the long jump and 9.60 meters in the shot put, while tallying 2,831 points in the pentathlon. Outdoors, Taylor finished fourth at the NYSCTC Championships in the decathlon to earn all-state honors. During the spring season he ran in four track events, competed in six field events and also the decathlon. Taylor recorded season-bests of 11.78 in the 100 dash, 53.20 in the 400 dash, 5:13.37 in the 1,500 run, 18.97 in the 110 hurdles, 1.63 meters in the high jump, 2.21 meters in the pole vault, 5.65 meters in the long jump, 8.24 meters in the shot put, 33.90 meters in the discus, 48.65 meters in the javelin and 4,910 points in the decathlon.
2008-09: Taylor was a three-time all-state athlete during his sophomore season. He placed fifth in the javelin throw and seventh in the decathlon with 4,338 points. Indoors, he was a member of Ithaca’s fourth-place 1,600-meter relay team that ran 3:29.25.
2007-08: Taylor earned All-NYSCTC recognition by placing fourth in the javelin at the NYSCTC Outdoor Championships and also was named All-ECAC for finishing seventh in the javelin at the outdoor championships. At the Empire 8 Outdoor Championship, Taylor was runner up in both the javelin and as a member of the 1,600-meter relay.
High School: Taylor earned four varsity letters as a member of the track & field team at Ichabod Crane High School for coach Rosina Schulerud. He served as team captain. Taylor was also a two-time letterwinner and team captain for the wrestling team at Ichabod Crane.
Personal: A physical education major, he is the son of James Taylor and Emma Sauca.
