Biography
2006-07: Olko finished 22nd in the 50-yard freestyle at the state meet (23.25). He also competed in the 100-yard freestyle at the state meet, finishing 26th with a time of 51.03. The state meet was the only competition Olko participated in during the season.
2005-06: Olko placed 15th at the state championships in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.68 and was 18th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.85. He was also a member of the sixth-place 200-yard medley relay team and the seventh-place 200-yard freestyle relay teams. He recorded 10 top-three finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, including a pair of wins in the 50-yard freestyle against Rensselaer and Cortland. Olko finished fourth at Rensselaer’s Henry Kumpf Invitational in both events.
2004-05: Olko won five races as a freshman. In Ithaca's victory over Cortland, Olko won the 50-yard freestyle (22.99) and also swam with the winning 400-yard medley relay squad. At the Empire 8 Championship Olko recorded three top-12 finishes, including the 100-yard breaststroke (10th, 1:04.55), 50-yard freestyle (12th, 22.94) and 100-yard freestyle (10th, 49.92). Olko was also a member of two seventh-place relay squads at the state meet.
High School: A 2004 graduate of Rye High School, Olko was coached by Carly Fierre and James Loveless.
Personal: An exercise science major, he is the son of Robert and Mary Olko.
