Biography
2006-07: Gliesing, who served as team captain as a junior, ranked 10th on the team in scoring and was named Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year from Ithaca. She recorded two top-15 finishes at the state championships, placing 11th in the 200-yard butterfly and 12th in the 100-yard butterfly. Gliesing, who was named to the NYSWCAA all-academic team, also placed 16th in the 400-yard individual medley.
2005-06: Gliesing earned all-conference honors with a second-place finish at the Empire 8 championships as a member of the 400-yard medley relay team (4:04.08) and ranked 11th on the team in points with 131.25. Her time of 2:18.50 in the 200-yard butterfly is good for 10th on Ithaca’s all-time list. Gliesing had four top-three finishes in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard freestyle, including a first place in the 100-yard freestyle against William Smith. She placed in the top 20 in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard freestyle at the state championships, and was a NYSWCAA all-academic team selection.
2004-05: Gliesing was the Empire 8 runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly, and won the event at RPI as well. She had two second-place finishes against Alfred, in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.21) and the 1000-yard freestyle (11:55.09).
High School: A 2004 graduate of Joel Barlow High School, Gliesing was coached by Elleen Earle. She received the Frank Seward Spirit Award as a senior and received the Coaches’ Award as a junior.
Personal: A clinical health studies/physical therapy major, she is the daughter of Sue and Fred Gliesing.
