Biography
2005-06: Gifford earned second-team all-conference honors after placing second at the Empire 8 Championships in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:17.00, which is seventh on Ithaca’s all-time list. She recorded nine top-three finishes in the 200-, 500-, 1,000- and 1,650-yard freestyle events and placed ninth on the team with 155.00 points. At the NYSWCAA Championships, Gifford placed fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:17.00), eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.74) and 17th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.95). She was also named to the state all-academic team.
2004-05: Gifford excelled in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing in the top five seven times, with wins against Cortland and Union. She placed in the top five in all 17 of her individual races, and also won the 500-yard freestyle versus Lemoyne. In the 1,650 freestyle, Gifford was all-NYSCTC and Empire 8 runner up. She was also all-NYSCTC in the 500-yard freestyle.
2003-04: Gifford, a second team all-conference selection, finished runner-up in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the conference meet and third at the state meet in 18:30.77. She also finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.44) and 10th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.98) at the conference meet. Gifford recorded her first career win in the 1,000-yard freestyle versus Cortland in 11:41.88. She also recorded first place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle against Le Moyne (5:30.69) and the 1,000-yard freestyle against Union (11:13.28). Gifford finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in a meet with Hamilton and Hartwick in 5:30.12.
High School: A 2003 graduate of Cheshire High School, Gifford was coached by Ed Aston. She was a four-year letter winner with the swimming & diving team and was an all-league selection.
Personal: A business administration major, she is the daughter of Frank and Patricia Gifford.
