Biography

2005: Struzzi moved to cornerback and started four times. He turned in one of the season’s biggest plays, returning an overtime interception 92 yards for the winning touchdown in Ithaca’s win over #17 St. John Fisher. Struzzi recovered a fumble to set up the game-tying touchdown in that game and also blocked a punt. He finished with six tackles and his performance earned him awards as Empire 8, ECAC and Football gazette Defensive Player of the Week. Struzzi also landed a spot on D3football.com’s Team of the Week. He collected a season-best eight tackles in the Hartwick win. His four pass break-ups rank second among Bomber defensive backs. He has also served as the holder for field goals and extra points.
 
2004: Struzzi played in every game, starting five times at free safety and holding for field goals and extra points. He tied a career high with five tackles in the season-opening win over Buffalo State, and doubled that total two weeks later against St.. John Fisher, finishing with 10 tackles (including one for loss) and a pass breakup. Struzzi recorded six tackles (with a career-best four solo stops), including one for loss, in the win at Norwich. He was named the team’s Specialist of the Week following the Cortaca Jug win at Cortland.

2003: Struzzi played in six games as a secondary reserve. He made his first career tackle in the win at St. Lawrence. He posted a season-best five tackles and a pass break-up in the win at Buffalo State.

High School: At McQuaid Jesuit Academy, Struzzi was coached by Bill Scharr.

Personal: A business administration major, he is the son of Richard Struzzi and Catherine Sperrick.
